Building Energy Experts, Inc. ("we," "us," or "our") respects your privacy. Building Energy Experts provides multifamily building performance services in Greater Chicagoland. This policy explains how we collect, use, share, and protect information when you visit https://buildingenergyexperts.com or interact with our services. Building Energy Experts, Inc. is the business responsible for the information described here.
How we use your information
- Respond to your inquiries and schedule energy assessments.
- Provide our services and complete projects you have requested.
- Submit and process utility rebate applications on your behalf.
- Send appointment confirmations, project updates, and reports.
- Send marketing communications about our services, where you have separately opted in to receive them. You may opt out at any time.
- Improve our website, services, and customer experience.
- Comply with legal obligations and enforce our agreements.

Building Energy Experts does not ask for and does not want passwords, payment card numbers, Social Security numbers, government identification numbers, health information, precise location, or biometric data. Please do not submit them. Utility account information is optional and is used only to review which programs may apply to the property.
Sale and sharing of personal information
Building Energy Experts does not sell personal information for money. Building Energy Experts does use advertising technologies from Google and Meta that can share online activity information for cross-context behavioral advertising. Several state privacy laws treat that as a sale or a share, so Building Energy Experts treats it that way too and gives every visitor a working opt out.
Turning off the advertising category is the opt out. It applies to this browser and device. If you use another browser or device, set it there as well.
Building Energy Experts honors the Global Privacy Control browser signal as a valid opt out of sale and sharing. If your browser or extension sends that signal, advertising cookies are turned off automatically before any advertising tag loads, with no action needed from you.
You can also opt out of many advertising technologies through industry tools: the Digital Advertising Alliance at aboutads.info and the Network Advertising Initiative at networkadvertising.org. Your browser settings and the ad preference controls offered by Google and Meta are additional options.
Building Energy Experts does not knowingly sell or share the personal information of anyone under 16 years old.
Who your information is shared with
Building Energy Experts does not sell your personal information for monetary compensation. Information is shared only as needed:
- With utility companies, including ComEd, Nicor Gas, Peoples Gas, and NorthShore Gas, and their program administrators, to process rebate applications for your property.
- With service providers who help run the business, such as website hosting, email delivery, scheduling, customer records, and advertising measurement.
- With vetted referral partners, only if you specifically opted in on a form by checking the box authorizing such referrals. You may withdraw that permission at any time by contacting us.
- When required by law, court order, or government request.
- In connection with a business transaction such as a merger, acquisition, or sale.
- With your explicit consent for any other purpose.
Email marketing
If you opt in to receive marketing emails, an email service provider is used to send and manage those communications. Every marketing email includes an unsubscribe link you can use at any time. Building Energy Experts does not share your email address with third parties for their own marketing purposes.
Calls, texts, and email
If you submit an assessment request, you are asked to agree to be contacted. The exact agreement presented on the form is recorded with your request, along with the date and time it was given. The current wording is:
"I agree that Building Energy Experts may contact me by phone, text, or email about this property assessment request using the contact information I provided. Consent is not a condition of any purchase. This permission is limited to this request and does not authorize unrelated marketing. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply HELP for help or STOP to opt out. I can also opt out at any time by asking the caller to stop or emailing Admin@BuildingEnergyExperts.com. See the Privacy Policy and Terms of Service."
You can withdraw that permission at any time. Reply STOP to a text message, ask the caller to stop, or email Admin@BuildingEnergyExperts.com. Withdrawing this request-specific contact permission does not stop communication that is necessary to complete work already underway at your property.
How long information is kept
Assessment requests and related records are kept as long as reasonably needed to review and service the request, meet program and contractual documentation requirements, resolve disputes, and satisfy legal and tax obligations. Records that are no longer needed for those purposes are deleted or de-identified. Analytics and advertising identifiers expire on the schedules listed in the cookie policy.
Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live, you may have some or all of the following rights. Building Energy Experts extends these choices to every visitor in the United States rather than trying to decide which law applies to you.
- Know what personal information Building Energy Experts has collected about you, where it came from, why it was collected, and who it was disclosed to.
- Request a copy of that information in a portable form.
- Correct inaccurate personal information.
- Delete personal information, subject to records Building Energy Experts must keep for legal, safety, program, or contractual reasons.
- Opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.
- Be treated the same whether or not you exercise these rights. Building Energy Experts does not offer a different price or quality of service because you made a privacy request.
To make a request, call (888) 623-3769 or email Admin@BuildingEnergyExperts.com with the subject line Privacy Request. Building Energy Experts will confirm receipt and will verify your identity before acting, usually by matching the details already on file for your request or property. An authorized agent may submit a request on your behalf with written permission that Building Energy Experts can verify. Building Energy Experts aims to respond within 45 days and will tell you if more time is needed.
If Building Energy Experts denies your request, the response will explain why. You may ask Building Energy Experts to reconsider by replying to that response.
How service providers may use information
The service providers listed above may process personal information only to perform those services for Building Energy Experts, and not for their own purposes. Building Energy Experts may also disclose information to protect people or property, and to complete program documentation the property is applying for.
Security
The site is served over HTTPS, submissions are validated on the server, and the site restricts what third-party code may run. Reasonable security measures are used to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and Building Energy Experts does not claim otherwise.
Children's privacy
Building Energy Experts services are not directed to individuals under 18, and personal information is not knowingly collected from children.

This website may contain links to third-party websites. Building Energy Experts is not responsible for the privacy practices or content of those websites.
